It is set on the planet of Taldain and is a part of Brandon Sanderson's cosmere universe. Volume three was drawn by Fritz Casas, colored by Salvatore Aiala Studios, and lettered by DC Hopkins. Volume Two was split between several artists chapters one through five were drawn by Julius Gopez and chapter six was drawn by Julius Ohta, chapters one and two were colored by Morgan Hickman and chapters three through six were colored by Salvatore Aiala Studios, lettering for the whole volume was done by DC Hopkins. Volume One was drawn by Julius Gopez, colored by Sophie Campbell, and lettered by Marshall Dillon. A number of different artists were used, with each volume having its own lineup. White Sand is a graphic novel, initially released in three separate volumes, based on a story written by Brandon Sanderson and adapted by Rik Hoskin. Rik Hoskin, Isaac Stewart, Julius Gopez, Fritz Casas, Nabetse Zitro By Nabetse Zitro (sketch, lineart), Justyna Dura (coloring, render) Soft-edged, cartoonish illustrations in watercolor humorously emphasize Escargot’s confident worldview. The last pages reveal the light-skinned child from whose visual perspective the story unfolds. Escargot peeks around the edge of the front endpapers and invites readers to share the experience of “traveling to the salad at the end of this book.” Close-ups of the big-eyed protagonist dressed in a jaunty blue-and-white striped shirt, red neckerchief, and black beret dominate the book. It’s hard to imagine an escargot heading toward a salad as destined to be anything other than part of the dish, but this engaging snail upends convention. A charming little French snail takes center stage as it entices a child to share a meal. There are some bumps along the way as they struggle with the depth of their feelings, as well as trouble with a horrible ex and changes in their future game plans, but overall the angst level was pretty low. Their personalities were such a complement to the other and I loved how they were the light to the others dark. Wes is this ornery and grumpy guy, while Blair is a burst of sunshine. They had such great banter and back and forth. There's definitely an attraction from the start, but they develop a true connection and really get to know each other through the course of the book. I really enjoyed the gradual build up between Wes and Blair. Overall 4.5 stars Performance 5+ stars Story 4 stars This book surprised me in the best way! I loved the author's twist on the typical sports romance/tutor trope! It was so refreshing to have the hero be the tutor and not just this over the top, big man on campus jock. Fantastic Twist on the Typical Sports Romance! What makes five kids pick a man seemingly at random – a nobody, he works in the housing department, doesn’t even have a good phone – hold a knife to his side, take him to a warehouse and chain him to a radiator? They’ve got a hostage, but don’t really know what they want, or why they’ve done it. They’re not looking for trouble, but one hot summer day, when riots break out across the city, they find it. They’re not exactly a gang, but Blaze is their leader, and Troy has always been his quiet, watchful sidekick – the only one Blaze really trusts. Troy, Femi, Lee, Karen and Blaze have been taking Concentr8 as long as they can remember. What’s good for society is good for everyone. Keep people like us safe from people like them. It makes sense, doesn’t it? Keep the undesirable elements in line. In a future London, Concentr8 is a prescription drug intended to help kids with ADD. Jane Seymour and Mary Tudor (Melissa Allan) are virtuous triangles, while Rosanna Adams’ refreshing Anna of Cleves is a resolute, and perfect, square. The costumes enact a commentary of their own on the vagaries of the body politic: Nicholas Boulton’s wayward Duke of Suffolk sports ruched breeches, in pointed contrast with the mothy velvet of Nick Woodeson’s pompous Duke of Norfolk. The beaky masks of all the aristocratic revellers mirror an earlier shadow play of the scythes and swords of the Pilgrimage of Grace, the popular uprising that was the start of Cromwell’s fall from grace. Christopher Oram’s monumental concrete set, which at first seemed a blockade against the very porousness that is the key to Cromwell’s genius, is criss-crossed with light as the court dissolves into a ghastly masquerade. After the death in childbirth of Jane Seymour, the pace quickens, the tone darkens and the production belatedly finds its mojo. " THIS is how one begins an intelligent conversation. " Good story but the content made it hard to read at times. Overall Performance: Narration Rating: Story Rating:.I have read this book a couple of times since, and love coming back to it each time. For some reason old Lazarus Long really spoke to me as a teenager. "My previous favorite SF book (before I read Ender's Game), and the single novel that has had the most profound impact on me. His use of slang, technical jargon, sharp wit, and clever understatement lend this story a texture and authority that seems the very tone of things to come. Time Enough for Love is his lovingly detailed account of his journey through a vast and magnificent timescape of centuries and worlds. Using the voice of Lazarus, Heinlein expounds his own philosophies, including his radical ideas on sexual freedom. Born in the early 1900s, he lives through multiple centuries, his love for time ultimately causing him to become his own ancestor. Lazarus Long is so in love with life that he simply refuses to die. Time Enough for Love is the capstone and crowning achievement of Heinlein’s famous Future History series. “These men did not get the justice that they deserved.” “This points to the truth that law enforcement over history has often failed to live up to its responsibilities,” Vance said to the Times. Investigators also interviewed a living witness who backed up an alibi for Aziz. Police department files also showed that a local reporter got a call the morning of the shooting indicating that Malcolm X would be killed. Prosecutors’ notes indicate they failed to disclose that undercover officers were present at the time of the shooting. According to the New York Times, the recent inquiry uncovered FBI documents including information that implicated others and not Aziz and Islam.
